lightning is charged from the ground but usually comes from the sky. their have been ground to cloud lightning but they are rare.

Lightning can originate either from the ground or from the sky. If it forks, you can tell which by looking at how it forks: if it forks going downward it originated from the sky, if it forks upward it originated on the ground.
