i am going to buy an above ground pool this weekend and i am not sure what to buy for it. please give me a thorough list of what you will need for maintaning a 5000 gallon above gorund pool. (example: skimmer, fliter, fliter catridges, shock, chlorine, vacuum skimmer,......etc)

Most places will sell the whole kit and probably some stuff you wont need. Many will have installations available also. At least where I am at, a pool that size would probably cost about 2k to install including leveling the ground. Larger pools of 16-20 htousand gallons would be about 4 thousand.

If there is a pool store or spa place to go, I'd try that route. They specialize in all the stuff you need and will have whole kits ready. I hope you get more use out of it than I do ours. I usualy work on it about an hour a week but only use it about 2-3 hours all season.

I refer to the pool as an emergency water supply that takes alot of maintainence and cost. I think our pool costs are around a thousand a year with me doing the work but it also counts cost of water and electricity and annual replacement parts.
