Eastern Colorado is pretty much mountain free.

But seriously, don't be afraid of bears and lions. I LIVE in the foothills, and have yet to ever see a single bear or lion.

All of eastern Colorado is rather flat. Certainly no mountains. However using basic precautions your more likely to get run over by a herd of wild elephants than injured by either a mountain lion or a bear in Colorado

About 60% of colorado is flat as kansas. But a mountain lion attack is so rare that it's not anything to worry about.

If you go east from the Denver airport, you are essentially coasting all the way to Kansas City. I've been there during tornado warnings.
