It's a fun book but it certainly isn't the best book ever written.

Quality of writing has never had anything to do with sales. Yes, just look at the bible, mostly boring BS and stories so wild even children think they are stupid, but it sells.
Potter is fun entertainment; the books are better written than many of that genre.

It just got so commercialized and the plot is so entertaining that kids go crazy and buy them all up...
