okaay, yeah i did the math and I got a 19 answer, so I guess I won't buy more >.<, the other one that died wasn't exactly a goldfish, but the lady that gave me the tank with the fish said he was pretty old, so i don't know, and yes she told me to wash the toys and filter with a bit of clorox, so i did since I had no idea what it did to the fish, but then I got the water tested and it said it had too much ammonia, so I bought a new tank, new filter, everything new >.<, well thanks for you comments^^, won't buy more fish, but for my b-day I'm planning to ask my mom to buy me a bigger tank so I can have more XD, thanks!!!!

I would just keep what you have. They look pretty happy and you don't want to overcrowd. Plus, goldfish are SUPER messy!!! Make sure you do a LOT of water changes and get a good filter.

Don't get anymore fish. It has enough in it already. By the way, your fish didn't die because it was old. Goldfish can live up to 20 years or more, and I doubt it was that old. Also, bladder problems are usually caused by poor water quality. Having 7 goldfish in a 20 gallon tank probably was the main cause.

Oh, and never listen to anyone who says 1 gallon of water per inch of fish. Goldfish should have a minimum of 20-30 gallons, and 10 gallons thereafter per each additional goldfish.

Since these are goldfish, that is already getting overstocked, those guys grow BIG. That is probably why the other two died young (I doubt it was old age, unless those tiny fish are really 20-40 years old, which is old age for a goldie). I would not risk it, or you will be dealing with more dead fish. As they grow bigger you'll want to get a 50 gallon. Good luck, they are very cute! (PS, some look like fancies, but one looks like a comet or shabukin which get HUGE)

I agree with the 2nd poster. You are already very heavily stocked, taking into account the size that Goldfish get and the amount of waste they produce. You're going to have your hands full just keeping the water conditions sound with this lot. No more fish!!

Nice tank, though. Good choice of gravel, to offset the goldies.

I agree with the 2nd, 7th, and 8th answerer. Goldfish need 10 gallon to themselves because they are very messy and poop alot, so they need a decent filter to break down all the ammonia.

you can keep up to 15 fish in a 20 gallon tank.

You have plenty now. When they are full grown you will only be able to house two or three in that tank comfortably.

I believe the rule is 1 inch of fish per gallon of water. Therefore, its not just the amount of fish, its the size. If you have two fish that are each 4 inches long, that's 8 gallons of water. You have 20 gallons, so 20 inches of fish.

1 inch per gallon of water so find out how big the fish get then do the math. Start out with four and nothng too expensive cause they tend to die if you dont take care of the water properly at the start. Good luck!
