Because showing your naked body (especially for profit) is considered immoral and taboo in this supposedly sexually permissive country...the folks believe the stereotypes, plain and simple. Just look at the above responses. They believe the nude female body is something to be covered up because it incites lust, not celebrated like it should because it literally IS the essence of life. The US definitely has a warped relationship with sex and nudity.Of course, the very taboo with strippers and stripclubs makes it just that more exciting and interesting for men (and women), and keeps the industry thriving. Trust me, plenty of religious people go to strip clubs!
Burlesque is awesome, and the earliest burlesque (circa 1940-50s) dancers were found even more unacceptable in society and yet they were all incredible women. HBO did a documentary on them..

I only find them unacceptable in certain circumstances...when they are dancing, whatever, do what you do, its good money, and some of them are damn talented with all them tricky leg things.

However, would i hire a stripper to babysit my son? nope! Would i hire a stripper to be my husbands secretary? nope! Would i want a stripper teaching in a school system? nope! And my reasons for that is, i just dont want that brought into my life. There is a persona with alcohol and drugs that goes along with stripping (another fault of society, but we all stereotype), and i try to keep that away out of my family life.

I feel that it is because most of the women in our society feel unhappy with our bodies in one way or another, because we are always told to be perfect, perfect, perfect and obviously none of us are. Therefore, it tends to make most women feel that if their significant other is looking at strippers, then they must not be happy with them. It really is more about a self-conscious thing than it is a moral thing in my opinion.

I know you want to justify your profession, but a stripper is basically one step above a prostitute. It usually just takes enough money to cross that line. So, keep gripping that pole, Kandy.

Because stripping is considered immoral and many ppl feel that girls showing themselves off makes them look as though they don't have any respect for their body...
