This year, right now, I'd say the Twins are a little better as their rotation is better, simply because of Johan Santana.

The Yanks are always going to have an advantage because of their ability to pay players and trade for high priced players because they can afford them. They can make some moves at the trade deadline (like they did for Bobby Abreu last year) simply because they can afford it.

The Twins have to work much harder on their scouting, drafting, and player development, as they must produce players from within that they can afford to pay. And when they do become productive, they have to determine which ones to keep (like Santana, Radke, Hunter, etc.) and which ones to let go (like Jaque Jones, Guzman, Koskie and Milton). They have much less margin for error, so it's amazing that the Twins and the A's (who are in the same boat) have been so productive over the last 5-6 years.

I'd have to go with the Yankees right now. The Twins have a better bullpen, but that's about it. The Twins have Santana, the best SP in the game right now, but outside of him I don't know who you could even trust in a big game? Garza/Boof have a ton of potential, but I don't know if they're ready yet. The Twins offense is also pretty weak.

On the other hand the Yankees starting staff is really starting to come together and will be considered above average IF Hughes (another young pitcher with talent) can produce. The Yankees offense has been clicking and they have now scored the 2nd most runs in the MLB. Their downfall WILL be their bullpen. The Twins are always a very underrated team, but I don't think they can produce enough runs.

SIDE NOTE: If the Twins had Liriano this season we might be talking about a WS contender.

Hmm...
As a Red Sox fan I would have to say the Yankees, they aren't the highest paid team for nothing (they just played sorry for 100 games!)

The Twins are much better at developing talent, managing a budget and even better young players!

The Yankees get to add as many top notch free agents as they want every year, this is why they will continue to have a better record than the Twins for the foreseeable future!

At the end of the year Yankees will have a better record than the Twins, as much as I wish they wouldn't!

hard to say Yankees have a better record and as usual they bought all the talent, but I like the Twins and think they aren't done yet.
