Go to a professional glass installer/shop. They will glue it back on for peanuts and it WON'T come off.

They do make a special glass glue that you can get at auto supply stores. Take an allen wrench and loosen the allen screw that holds the mirror attachment plate on. Remove the silver looking plate and that is what you will glue onto the windshield. Make sure you get it located correctly and then put some glue on the plate and stick it on the clean glass. Hold it into position for a few minutes and then put something under the plate and against the dash to hold it in place until it dries. Give it at least 8 hrs to dry. After that slide the mirror onto the holding plate and lightly tighten the allen to hold the mirror in place.

That repair should last you for the life of the car.

goto an autoparts store and buy Permatex Extreme windshield adhesive. it's a 2 part glue. it should work, if not, goto a glass shop, they'll have industrial strength stuff.
