Cyn's right - they're extremely cool. The flowers, yeah - nicotiana is a good one, but lots of flowers will be good - they tend to prefer trumpet-like or tubular flowers, but any thing you see butterflies going after will probably work for hawkmoths. They're very uncommon, though - like many things I used to see in my youth, I hardly ever see any any more.

I was on line for hours today to find what i saw today. It was a hummingbird moth. it was on purple verbena and confeti lantana. we thaought it was a hummingbird. I have never scene one before. the unique thing about it was it had inteni
It was beautiful . i still don't know what spiece itw as b/c i can't find a picture of what i saw. This was in South Caarolina.

I had the most hummingbird (or hawk) moths when I was growing Nicotiana

Generally, the kinds that produce nectar and pollen.

However, there are too many flowers under that category, to even begin to list.......
