Pilot Error (negligence) was the cause they were try to get a story of nothing and they became the story.
They might as well try to charge they guy for all the losses businesses took while all their employees stood around watching the news instead of working,
They can charge him all they want but the conviction will never see the light of day.
They are just distracting the public from the real issue. are car chases really news or are they sensationalism.
We much like the Roman Empire, have an arena mentality we run to to the coliseum, to see the lions battle the Christians, well guess what the lions sometimes get a spectator.
I might be more compassionate if they were trying to get footage of refinery fire advising the Public which way the wind was blowing, or looking for some kid lost in the woods.
Admit it these guys lost their lives trying to get footage of a car chase, how can that possibly be noble.
I agree with you 100%. In fact I might as well send in my bill for taking the time to type this, but it was my choice.
It was pilot negligence, and/or incompetence
.
How is a car chase news, We as the public are at fault because, if they film it we will watch it. Then they will put it Americas best police chases, And the pilots and the photojournalists, sit around in the bar saying hey we filmed that, yeah what a wonderful public service.
Give me all the thumbs down you want, but how is filming car chases a public service.
On the other hand , I feel sorrow for the loss of any life, But what a better way to go than doing what you love to do.

The Police chief said there is a very high probability he will be charged. I live in Phoenix, its heart braking what happened. I hope they charge him, he is the reason for the live coverage. There was around 5 to 6 helicopters in the air at once all covering that scene. He is a wack job. He said he didn't remember stealing any of the two vehicles when police arrested him at a friends house.

That's a good question. My initial reaction is that they will at least press charges since it's easier to blame him than whichever pilot was at fault, given that the pilot died. It would be a poor way to handle a tragic situation since news helicopters cover events all the time - out of choice - and pilots make errors like anyone else.

Whatever else he is guilty of, the car driver is not responsible for the crash of the news helicopters. These news agencies were attempting to get pictures for profit, and were not attempting to control the reckless driver. It is tragic of course, but not the speeder's fault.
If police or motorists were injured or killed, however, the speeder would be responsible due to his reckless behavior.

No, how in any way is that his fault? The pilots of each helicopter should have been paying more attention to where they were.
I would get a different source then the Houston chronicle, they suck.

It's been stated the carjacker captured WILL be held criminally liable for that horrible chopper collision/crash!
And Mr. Carjacker is gonna want to be convicted of the crime, too. Why? Prisoners are considered "indigent" and can't be sued. Check your law--it's true.....for now, anyways.
If Mr. Carjacker wriggles free of criminal prosecution, you can believe he won't escape CIVIL liability--and it CAN surely get pricey---just ask O.J.

He will be successfully charged. But being
successfully prosecuted on those charges
is an entirely different thing altogether.
And yes, the prosecution should have a strong case.

NO. If you got into an accident and died while rubber necking another accident you are at fault not the guy who caused the original accident.
