Or am I being to cheap? Cause I'm running low on money to buy a gift for my friend's 17th birthday. I've been thinking of buying department store brand but right now I'm dirt poor.

i think thats fine. Makeup is expensive and can add up. she will probably be happy she has one less thing to buy and she'll have a few more options. You should try E.L.F brand EVERYTHING they sell is a dollar each and work really well (I use department store brands and this brand) They have this really cute plumping lipgloss set with 8 colors for $8. Their products have been featured on "Opera", "CNN", and "Style" magazine. www.eyeslipsface.com

Well, I might be offended (depending on how close we are). I mean it's really the thought that counts. But say that somebody that the person is not so close with spends like 50 dollars on her and you spend 10, it makes you look bad. Also, most people know how much each drugstore product costs, so they WILL know if you're being cheap. What I would do (since you're low on cash), is go to a Lush store and buy one of their gift boxes and also write a nice letter/card. If you don't have a Lush, then go to Bath and Body Works becuase their gift baskets are relatively inexpensive.

Have you considered jewelry? You can get some really cute fashion jewelry on sale and it would last longer than the makeup. Does she have some outfit you know of that you could buy cute jewelry to accessorize? Or, a basic silver that would go with everything. Dillards always has good sales on jewelry. Check it out. Target too.

You're definitley not being cheap! Even some drugstore brands are still expensive. My friend got me L'Oreal Telescopic liquid liner for my birthday, and I wasn't disapointed or thought she was being cheap at all.

No, go ahead. You're not being cheap as long as you don't go to the dollar store or anything. (lol)

Also I think some drugstore brands work and look better than eyeshadow that's 60 dollars.

You should be good. :)
