No, you can use the laptop without a battery.

You don't have to fully recharge the battery every time. But it is a good idea to do so if you can afford the time to do so. Remember that all batteries will lose power over time even if they are not connected to a device.

Lastly, the amount of time it will take to charge depends on several things: the battery itself, whether the computer is on or not, and the charger (AC adapter). The battery will rapidly charge if it is low on power, then slowly charge as it reaches its maximum capacity. With use, your maximum capacity will drop. This is why over time you will notice that your battery life is less than when you had a new battery. If the computer is on while charging, some of the power that would go to the battery is being used to keep the PC running. So expect a longer charging time if you decide to charge and use the computer at the same time.

Generally, a laptop battery should not take more than 3 hours to charge up.

NO

If you plug the notebook in you can completely remove and not use the battery.

The time that a battery can hold a charge depends on its age, its generation, and the type. The newer batteries hold their charges for longer times. You have to check the package for the battery to find out how long it should last and expect that number to decrease with age. With the newer batteries the issue of "battery memory" has been solved so you don't need to completely discharge and recharge the battery. You can recharge it when you need to.

If you keep the screen up and on all the time that you are using it then the battery will last for less time, since the screen is the single biggest drain on the battery.

you can connect a laptop to the mains and use battery if you wish, howevver disconnect the battery if it is always plugged in permently or for a long time as this can ruin the battery.
