Sharapova's a pretty quick learner and has a fire about her that keeps her pushing for more. She's definately improved over the last year - I don't remember her trying a drop shot or volleying in '06.
Let's not forget her tennis was bred in America, a nation which, until VERY recently, advertized building a players game around 1 or 2 big shots. It's gonna take a lot of mental maturation for Maria to pull things like this off, but she has a good amount of years to learn.

She is better than Anna K. Her tennis game overall is better
than many other players in the circuit. But she will always
have to be on the top to beat top 10 players, specially William
sisters....I doubt she will any more grand slams....
She has a large contributions from sponsors and she will
continue to do so....but she will never get #1 spot....
On the other hand, why do people pick on William sisters
where in, you have identical problems with Sharapova

YES. like andy roddick, she's nothing but hype. both win when they do play lower ranked players....but lately, both have lost to lower ranked players. actually, the younger russian Chakvetadze, Serbian Ivanovic and Jankovic, and Czech Vaidasova have much better game than she does. She just has more experience mentally right now. But yes, compared to the Williams, she doesn't have a game to hurt the two sisters unless either Serena or Venus are having an off night.

no i believe not. she has the makings of a great tennis played but i think she just chokes when she is up against big players like the williams sisters. When she is able to stop choking, she can still win plenty of titles

I think she still has some good tennis left. She needs to work on her serve a bit. Unfortunately for her the Serbian girls are about to make their mark in winning slams as well. With the right draw and a little luck, she can still challenge for majors.

Maria has opportunities to grow. She is just a young lady who has a trillion options in front of her. When she gets serious about the sport for reasons other than her country of choice or her fathers wishes, she will excell again in the game.

Yes, she has done all and she cannot do more in her tennis. Now, she is number second in the world and not free injury. Maybe it is better she become a professional model.

She won her first Grand Slam by beating Serena Williams and that's what you need to remember.
Life isn't easy.
Sometime you win and sometime you lose.
No one win forever.
