The truth is the largest corporations with the most to gain paid out $50 billion in lobbyist money to get the trade agreements we have now, It is known as the largest wine and dine ever for the passage of this legislation, recently a study came out and it concluded that US citizens living wages have not gone up since we did the trade agreements so you see it benefits a very select few and average Joe is suffering because of it and it may even cause a huge depression and lead to a total welfare state. Think about it, if people have lost good paying jobs with benefits like retirement and health care and we have switched to a service economy and they are bringing in the illegals to compete for the jobs, it won't be long until average people suffer and will need government help or some kind of help. Face it people it was a major mistake.

Spock, what you are saying is true for some but not the majority and as far as Microsoft and Boeing goes, they are going to ship no matter what because they are the leaders in their fields, Im not saying don't trade, Im saying get rid of these trade agreements and do it right so that average Americans are protected, We need a level playing field in our trade agreements.

Unfortunately for Americans this famous 200 year old {?} quotation has come true:

"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them, will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered." -- Thomas Jefferson

Our only hope is to wake up enough people to vote for Ron Paul,,,,,if it's not too late.

I felt really silly handing out Ron Paul for President home made flyer's yesterday, but it may have worked for some. The general public seems very angry at what America has become.

Thanks for the question.

what have you been smoking, dude?

go to Seattle and ask average Joe there about trade. Joe in Seattle either makes airplanes or works for MicroSoft -- or his business depends on people who do.

All the Boeing and MSFT people are pretty well paid, thank you very much. There are more of them than ever. Further, both MSFT and Boeing have huge foreign sales and thus depend on those foreigners' buying power for their jobs. Foreign buying power comes from them selling us goods we want at prices we'll pay.

The point of the trade agreements is simple -- foriegners will d what they're good at and Americans will do want we're good at. Then we'll trade and everyone will be better off.

This keeps more foreigners employed in their own countries and thus NOT coming to America. If we'd stop subsidizing farmers and open up free trade in farm products, more Mexicans and Central Americans would have farm jobs at home and fewer would try to come here. [But, NO -- we can't do that -- sugar beet farmers in Montana would have to plant wheat instead and they'd go broke.]

You've got just about every thing wrong here. Including the $50 billion figure. You literally couldn't spend $50 billion wining and dining in Washington, DC if you wanted to -- not in a decade and by using all the restaurants in the entire town -- $50 billion is just too big.

[shakes head]

why do I bother??
