Well, I'm a 16 year old girl who is known for having the sweetest personality around, but to be quite honest i feel ugly as ****!. i have sorta pretty skin tone (light tanish) and my face looks okay i guess, but i hate my body and height. in 16 years, i've never been asked out, kissed, or anything to that extent. I must admit i think im FAT! i weigh 105 and im only 4'11''. i tried dieting and excercising and i continue doing such but it doesnt seem to be shedding any weight. its like i have a bulk of muscle everywhere, to the point that im so ugly and FAT looking. plus, its hard to find cute clothes that fit. i went into hollister today and all the girls were skinny, beautiful, and had the perfect body for the cutest clothes. i envy them. how do i get the body i want?! the confidence i seek?! the beauty i wish i possesseD?! anyways thank you all very much in advance for all your responses. Have a great daY! =)

Get clothes that flatter your figure!! You're way too young to be worrying about FAT!! Don't go crawling into a box of doughnuts, though! It really IS what's on the inside that counts! Society tells us that whatever is on the magazine covers is acceptible. I worked for a pre-press company and you wouldn't BELIEVE all the touching-up we had to do on the so-called models in the pix!! Moles, hair, bruises - we had to hide them all because the 'models' are just as human as all the rest of us!

Good luck!!

Well you can't do anything about your height, so lets go to the weight. One hundred and five is not that heavy that you can't work at it. I just took off 15 lbs in the past month just by not eating desserts all week. On Sunday I slide. I fill myself up with fruit when I I get hungry. I've also noticed that sugarless yogurt, ice cream, and pudding tastes as good as the same desserts with sugar added. You are on the edge now so get busy.

Lose some weight and you'll pick up some esteem. With esteem comes confidence. You are getting to the age where you must take control of your life. No one can help you get that control. Just do it.

Boys pick up esteem from playing sports. Can you play any sports well? The rest of the summer attack that body and punish it until you reach some goal.

I'm rooting for you

First of all, I would like to commend you on your ability to reach out and talk about this problem. This is a matter that your parents should be willing to help you with. No doubt you are going through some serious changes right now, and it's tough being your age and facing the pressure of being perfect or being the like image of all those models in teen magazines. Self confidence doesn't begin with your body image. Self confidence is about liking who you are as a person. I would suggest you do things that make you feel good about yourself. Since I don't know much about you, I can't make a heap of suggestions, but one way to feel good about yourself is to volunteer to help other people. I wouldn't want you to fall into a depressive state about your self image. You may want to consider professional counseling. Don't think that is a negative thing. There are people out there who can spend a lot of time with you working on the root of the problem. Fixing your weight is just a band-aid, and it won't erase how you feel about yourself on the inside. Please email me privately to discuss this further. You are too young to face this by yourself. I can't recommend strongly enough that you talk to your parents and your school's counselor about this. Don't be embarrassed. So many people feel the way you do, but they don't do anything about it, and it becomes a downward spiral that only gets worse. Please, please, please talk to your parents, and ask them to help you find professional help that will help you make some lifelong changes that will help you with this and future self-esteem problems you will undoubtedly face in the future.

Your are underestimating your self worth. Never forget you are an entity unto yourself and GOD DON'T MAKE NO JUNK !! Pardon the euphemism. But we are who we are and you have MANY years ahead of you and this to shall pass !! If you have deep seated emotional issues perhaps you might consider meditation or another type of healing. We all have had this type of feeling at one time or another.Don't give in to the "bad" thoughts !! Try to maintain a more positive attitude. Its not easy to maintain at times but you can do this !! God Bless and Best of Luck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
