Yes, over the years they return a decent amount of gains and are mostly tax deferred until you sell but you will have some taxable income each year.

Depends on market!! How much money U invest,how long money tied up,I have MF now,matures in 7 years.If U need access to your money B4 term,stay away from MF !

How much are you talking about? Under $25,000 they are great. Over that, find 10 good companies in different industries or find yourself a broker.
