i am not making generalization that ALL welfare recipients are on drugs. i never said that. and drug testing wont drive up costs, it will ultimately save the taxpayers money, so that only the people who really need it will get it. all of us working folk have to take drug tests to work, so why shouldnt everyone else?

Personally, I don't think it's fair. There are honest people on welfare. I am one of them. I am chronically ill and have not been able to work. I lost my job in January due to missing too many days. I tried to hang onto that job with everything that I had and was not able to. I have been to Drs on top of Drs and it seems there is nothing else that can be done for me. While I was working they helped me with a Medicaid card and food stamps because I didn't work too many hours due to the illness. Basically, that's all I get now but my point is I would do anything not to have to depend on welfare. If I could be healthy enough to work it would be wonderful. I am just saying there are a lot of people doing all that they can do but I do understand too what you are saying about people who abuse the system and it seems the ones who need it get denied a lot. My friend and her family lost a lot of benefits because she has a 401K account where she works. She can't get this money till she is 60 years old and retired or only if she quits her job. They have taken benefits from them they really do need. That doesn't seem fair to me. Ok, so I am rambling. I will stop. Just wanted you to hear my opinion.

NO, they shouldn't could bypass a drug try as a manner to get public assistance. in basic terms Nazi Republicans think of that welfare recipients could be drug-examined. Nazi Republicans to illustrate the Commissioners for the Texas paintings tension value and the dept of wellbeing and Human facilities, who paintings very very difficult to disclaim human beings any style of help. that's why the style of persons in Texas residing under the national Poverty point is so d*mn intense, simply by fact of evil-hearted state organization bureaucrats who make waaaaaaayyyy too plenty money themselves and don't have the terrific pastimes of the conventional public in recommendations whilst they carry terrible policies like this.

Perhaps if they were only tested for hard dangerous substances like crack , heroin etc.
but pot I don't think so , they should hand it out along with the other assistance . They should be permitted some measure of happiness without the children suffering because of the problems . They do make them go to work now it's much different than in days gone by .

No, that is making a pretty broad assumption. A lot of good people who had back luck are on welfare. And the drug testing would drive up costs.

sure do...I think they should also void out baby bonuses for women on welfare. Some women will have more children just for the extra bump in cash each month even though they can't afford to properly take care of themselves or the children they already have.

Not a bad idea in my opinion. Another thing that gets me, is there are people who are on welfare and yet they are driving a nice fancy car. Hey, go figure.

Sure, and let's also test them for rabies, alcohol, and, the "poor" gene. Contrary to popular belief, most welfare recipients are not on it because they want to be, they have no choice. Even on welfare, they do not get enough to survive on, nor, to purchase drugs.

The Social Security Administration has already weeded out people getting benefits for that very reason.
