A fence needs to be placed around a pool that measures 12 feet by 18 feet. Around the entire pool is an 8 feet wide deck. How many feet of fencing will be needed?

The measurment of the length and width will be increased by 16 becuase of the 8 feet deck that will press out on each side of the pool.

w=34

You need the perimiter.

P=2(L+W)
P=2(34+28)
P=2(62)

18ft+8ft*2=34ft
12ft+8ft*2=28ft

So 34ft by 28ft is the actual measurement of the pool and the deck. The total length of the fence is (34ft+28ft)2=124ft
