Well, Im a teenager. And I am reading House of Stairs right now (it was suggesterd here on Y!Answers). I also really liked the Nicholas Sparks books and Melody Carlson books. I am also quite fond of non-fiction books, which i just realised this summer. Happy reading!

I do not recommend harry potter there is a lot of darkness and spells and stuff like that in them

It's good for both genders.
For guys, it's good because it shows how to treat a lady.
