My order is (from on screen character to last) Yangus, Jessica, Angelo, Hero. Hero & Angelo myt be reversed, but they're close enuff in power & magical healing abilities it doesn't matter much.

Well, in the game from what I saw, from top to bottom characters are more likely to get hit.
Spot one: Yangus. He has the most HP, and the second best defense, lacks strong healing or revive magic. If Yangus dies, you still have two people who can revive him while the other heals him in the same round.
Spot two: Hero. He has the second most HP, and the best Defense- but he's a good healer (better then Angelo depending on the spell you need) and able to revive. So while you'll want him taking the beating over Angelo and Jessica, you might not want one of your healers up front, just in case.
Spot three: Angelo. He has more Defense and HP then Jessica, and in terms of keeping everyone alive, you'll want him in the third location, if only to keep your magical power house alive.
Spot four: Jessica. Her HP is terrible, and her defense isn't much better. The last spot, and least likely to be attacked, should be her (And i've also found out that healing her when she gets to half health is good practice too.)

The order my characters are in are Hero, Yangus, Angelo, and Jessica. The poster above has sound reasoning for having Yangus first, but I have Hero first for two reasons.
1. He has the highest defense of all my characters
2. I hate the way Yangus looks when he runs, so I'd rather have Hero as main character (the one on-screen while walking). Funny reason, I know, but Yangus looks so silly running!
Definitely have Jessica last, because her defense and HP are ridiculously low.
