I just started working full time for a major company June 1st and I recently asked my boss for two days off to go to my boyfriends grandpas funeral because I was really close to him...however I know I haven't had any vacation days ready to use. My boss said it was fine to go and I double checked with her the following day b/c I didnt wanna jeapordize my job but she said i definitely wouldn't and she even knew it wasnt an immediate family member. SHould i be concerened about people higher than her coming down on her or me? Or not?

Quit worrying. This kind of thing is a common situation. For people who are doing a good job, most supervisors will give time off for this type of thing without question. You aren't jeopordizing anything.

It sounds as if you have been given the o.k.. However, if it is not in writing, it did not happen.

If you are bothered by potential repercussions, then fill out a leave slip. If all information is correct (your boyfriends, grandfathers funeral), and your boss approves it by signing the request, then you should feel at ease.

People are assigned certain titles because of their ability to manage. If the big bosses micromanage to the point of taking action against you for your bosses action or inaction, then it does not sound like a good place to work.
