replaced the pickup coil in the distributer and now the starter wont turn the motor. is that what your saying or it still won't start. replaceing the pickup should not stop the engine from turning unless distributer is seized. or you pulled on harness enough to loosen the connections at the starter. if turning over but not starting re check all of your plug ins.

Given the age of the truck, you probably broke the starter solenoid wire, changing the coil wont effect the starter so you problem is else ware.

changing the pick up coil should not have an effect on the starter circuit.......be sure your engine ground strap is in place.....then using a 12 volt test probe....test for power at your starter solenoid....but first check your battery connection,s......make sure it,s in neutral,or park.......while testing at your starter...have a friend turn the ignition switch to start position [ be care full...may turn starter]..test small terminal [ or solenoid terminal] for power....if none....trace wire back to find voltage loss.....may be in ignition switch...could have been the problem all along....good luck!..on some older model starter,s they had a second small terminal on the solenoid for ignition feed [ marked with an I for ignition]....check that also....may be a bad solenoid!

It sounds like you left that little red/pink wire unplugged from driver side of the distributor cap. Or the other wire (pink or black?) that plugs in the same place. Both have little plastic clips that hold them in place and it's easy to leave one hanging when your jammed under that hood.

Good Luck!

may have to take it in for a diagnostics test. What about your distributor? do anything with that? I had a 69 dart and that gave me endless problems with my duel distributor. It wasnt set right.
Make sure all your connections are good. Wires?
