I live in north carolina and my wife and i are going to be getting divorced and i was just wondering if i could get out of my lease at my duplex due to the extreme emotional distress of living here and also if i would be able to get out of my cell phone contract as well?

I dont know about the lease but you could talk to your landlord and see if there is something that you could do....and as to your cell phones...alot of companies will let you separate the contract so you will pay only for yours and it doesnt cost to change your number if you would like to. Best of luck and sorry to hear about your divorce....

The lease question is entirely up to your landlord. Explain the situation and see what they tell you. The cell phone could be terminated 1 of 2 ways. Either pay them the termination costs or tell them that you are moving somewhere that they don't provide coverage. You must check the areas out first before doing this, but it can be done. I moved from Indiana to Alabama and cancelled my term with Cingular because they didn't offer coverage here. Hope that this helps you.

Legally no or at least not without penalties. You can always find someone to sublet your apartment, but the cell phone will be expensive
