Warpage and loss of heat treat is common on aluminum heads. Cracking and warpage is common on cast iron heads.
Warpage occurs at the gasket surfaces and the cam towers in ohc engines. Cracking is usually near exhaust valves,
Loss of heat treat can cause valve seats to come loose in aluminum heads.

If you exceed the temperature, your heat tabs will melt off, and more than likely, blow a head gasket, and possibility of cracking the cylinder head...

im not a mechanic, but if cylinder head overheats it expands and tightens against the pistons and seizes up

You blow the the head gasket and then your engine will go. You'll get exhaust gasses in the coolant and coolant will leak into the combustion chamber which is just...not good...at all. I hope you didn't do this...
