Veryy good answers before me. Let me say that I was doing the ol' bucket heave- ho for about 7 years. I recently bought a python, and I wonder how I ever got on without it. Heres how it works. Hook up the faucet end up to your faucet, and ull the bottom lever on the hook up to the vaccuum position. Now take the syphon end, place it in the aquarium, and flip the switch and boom, instant syphon/vaccuum. After the desired ammt. of water is extracted, start to adjust the temp of the tap water to the tank water. A aquarium thermometer is a must for this step. Once the water is stable at the desired temp, push the knob up and twist, and the water will now flow into the tube, in order to refill the aquarium. Flip the on/off switch, and boom, instant water refiller. The water coming into the tank contains clorine, and sometimes chloramine, so as you are refilling, add a dechlorinater, such as Stress Coat, Aqua Safe, etc. When the water has reached the desired level, flip the off switch, walk to the sink, and turn faucet off.

Trust me, I know this process by heart, I do it every Friday and Saturday, for 50% water changes on my 29 gallon and 10 gallon..

I give it a 4.9 out of 5...worth every penny.

ADDITION: It's a simple open and close of the valve on the part attached to the sink to switch from draining the tank to filling the tank. You don't need to start a siphon, it will do that for you.

When using it to fill a tank, you want to adjust the amount of hot and cold water until the temperature coming out of the python is within a few degrees of the tank temperature.

I love mine, except that it doesn't fit on my faucet that I have now. :(

It doesn't do anything to the temperature, it's just that you don't want to be putting in 60 degree water into a tank that should be around 80...so make sure you adjust the water from your sink to match the water that is currently in your tank. :)

Good luck! I don't know how much they are, because I received my 75 foot one as a present.

I made my own. I got a faucet adapter, hooked it up to one end of a 50ft hose and hooked the other up to my siphon. I run my water into my garden and then fill up from the sink. Just use plenty of dechlorinator and you are fine.

i love it, i have a 60 foot? or one of the longest one.

Been using it for 13 years, relyable and fast and easy.

would imagine bucketing out fish water, just hook it up to the sink and suck and pump water into the tanks.
