With 205 hp the SS COBALT is very quick and powerfull for its size. This car should be driven like any other sports type car.If you have to chirp the tires you need to drive it better. If you chirp the tires in front of the police they have the right to ask you what your problem is.

I happen to own a 07 Cobalt SS Supercharged and i have the GM Stage 2 package. If you chirp the tires when trying to take off its either because you tried to or you don't know how to drive. Now if you stab the gas pedal and drop the clutch it will smoke the tires, but thats still not driving it normal.

As for getting a new SS in a year or two, you won't be buying a new on. GM has dropped the SS Supercharged for 2008. It may come back in 2009 but its doubtful. 2007 is the last year for them.

The police can give you a ticket for chirping your tires, might be considered "exhibition driving". If you do it once around them they probably wouldnt care, but keep doing it and theyll nail you. Anyway, I heard (not sure on this) that the Cobalt SS supercharged version wont be around for long as there was speculation that it was going to be turbocharged instead of supercharged.

if your easy on the throttle ....you should have no problem keeping it from " chirping the tire,s".....you just have to get used to driving the car........you won,t be able to convince the police that it,s just the nature of the vehicle...good luck!
