Many/most employers are prejudiced against felons even if they say they aren't.

Generally after a certain period of time 7 to 10 years you should be able to prove you have changed or the applications won't go that far back. Read carefully, some say EVER.

It would be hard to get certain jobs that require licensing, especially if a crime of moral turpitude. (IE: theft, prostitution, anything involving mionors like delinquency etc.)

Real estate, banking, nursing, pharmacy, teaching...basically anything that pays or has responsibility/access to drugs or kids is virtually impossible. Best bet is to do research and ask questions of licensing board. Look up the law books in your court house if need be.

it's a shame that after you pay a debt you still are marked forever, even when trying to do things honest.

Having a felony doesn't hurt your chances to get a good job as bad as you think. I have a felony record with 2 years prison time and 4 years on parole. As soon as I was released I found a decent job and now I make more money than my Mom, Dad and sister combined. The three of them have college degrees and I didn't even graduate High school. I'm not saying this happens for everyone but it all depends on how you carry yourself . Also if you look like a total thug that didn't learn his lesson that will make that felony stick out even more. If you can help it do what you can to keep it off because you will lose your right to vote and own a firearm.

A felony conviction is murder for your career. You cant work in some government jobs. You cant vote. Most employers will not want to hire you unless youre the very best at what u do.

I don't think you can have anything removed from your record now. Maybe 15 years ago you could have. But you can apply for a pardon through The Board of Pardons and Parole in the state that you were convicted in. If granted a full pardon all of your civil rights, with the exception of the right to own or possess a firearm, will be restored.

In many cases, having a felony on your record will impair many opportunities for you. You may not be allowed to vote, obtain a security clearance, and hence much government employment, or hold public office your self. Check your local laws for details.

It will be permanently documented in your legal record

There will be employers that will not hire you and have every right not to.

After a certain amount of time (years) you can apply to the court to have it expunged but it costs money and attorney fees.

Good news. You can work at our airports. The TSA(Transportation Security Administration) does not care if you are a felon. Everyone deserves a
second chance. Child molester? Murderer? Bank
robber? Rapist? Its all good at the TSA.
