Las Vegas, simply said, is a great city for all your entertainment desires - from gambling, to drinking, to eating, to dancing, to spoiling yourself silly - it is a city that caters to ALLLLLL of your vices and obsessions.
With that said, its a fun and exciting city, but you can lose control there and it is easy to lose sight and spend waaaay more than you ever planned to. You should definately go there, but try NOT to lose complete control - if you have a good control and are able to keep scammers at bay - you will absolutely love this town and have the time of your life.
Here are a few things you might consider on your trip to vegas:
1. Eat at buffets and other great restaurants. Buffets like Bellagio's or Wynn's have trancended the common buffet of stale food. They serve gourmet dishes like Kobe beef and hand made desserts. Great food, good service, clean and fun atmosphere. You'll definately enjoy this. There are also great buffets for cheaper at Monte Carlo and Luxor - great variety and best buffet for your dollar.
2. Watch the sunrise by staying up all night and partying and then seeing the drunks and broke gamblers barely make it back to their hotel rooms in the early morning. It is the quietiest time in Vegas, and a little relaxing. You can really see how Vegas can ruin you for those that you see are completely distraught over losing - but its a good way to keep your sanity while you there, which costs you nothing.
3. Go swimming and treat yourself to a massage. This will be fun. When you get out of the pool, you can feel the heat radiating on your back and your feet will feel warmer than getting out of the pool anywhere else. It feels good, and then getting a massage later will be the perfect way to settle into a fun night. Something about swimming in the heat as the sun is going down in the Vegas desert is relaxing and calming. This will cost little to nothing. Oh yea, it will DEFINATELY be hot enough to get tan in less than 30min, if not burned - so use some sunscreen just to make sure you arent a lobster at the clubs.
4. You can shop at the FORUM in Caesar's Palace or the Passage at the Hollywood Planet Casino. They have the widest selection and the nicest shops. There is, of course, the Las Vegas Premium Outlets just off the strip that any taxi can take you to - good deals there!
5. You can watch the fountains at Bellagio, the Fremont Street Light Show in downtown, and catch a Cirque Du Soleil show (such as KA at MGM Grand or 'O' at Bellagio - those are my favorite). Just enjoy yourself and have fun, dont plan out every little thing.
Lucky you, have fun - wish I was going too. Hope this helps

It's like the old saying, "the grass is always greener elsewhere til we get there". I live in Henderson and drive to Vegas for work daily. I moved here 3 years back from New England. My commute to Vegas can be long, but normally shorter than the same distance in the Boston area due to accidents. It really depends on the individual tho, if you are not happy here, what about moving? If that isn't an option for you, look for groups that you have interests in so you have things to do. There are many locals that do not see the inside of the casinos, we leave that to the tourist to keep our state taxes low!!!!! Good Luck finding what you are looking for.

Been twice. I loved it both times. And, if you do get tired of the city, head out to the Red Rock Canyon or Lake Mead. It's a beautiful area.

Was there once on the way back from Hawwai.Found the people very rude & pushy, maybe because there gamblers don't know. We found the shows to be fantisic & the sites like Hoover Dam wonderful.Maybe if we were gamblers we would have liked it all.
