A friend of mine told me that people in these countries don't like Americans. They target people with white sneakers, whom they think are American travelers because it's not the way Western European people dress. And in the restaruants, waiters judge you by the way you dress to provide services. Is that true? What do you know about this? Any advise?

My experience is the Europeans like Americans although they may not agree with decisions of our government. Keep in mind America has come to their rescue twice in the last one hundred years and they are very thankful for what we have done for them. I would say dress up a little more than you would in America as Europeans are more stylish. Stay clear of the bright colors which you don't seem much of in Europe. And simply be respectful to the citizens you encounter. I have found the Europeans to be more hospitable than Americans and they will go out of there way to help you if you need it.

In big cities (i.e. London & Paris) people tend to dress mor formally than in the US, so if you show up in jeans, Nike's & a baseball cap, you'll pretty much be screaming tht you're an American.

Unfortunately, the displeasure with our government's foreign policy, is sometimes projected onto tourists. However, if you are polite and not obnoxious, I'm sure you'll find the people in both England and France to be friendly and happy to take your tourist dollars.

And speaking of tourist dollars, be sure to take lots of them. The dollar is in the toilet vis a vis both the British pound and the Euro. You're going to need lots of money over there.

Americans are safe in England and France - most of Europe, especially the European Union, is fine for Americans. The people here do not hate Americans. We love you and want you to spend lots of your $ here.

As a Brit through and through (and a translator/interpreter so I've studied culture clashes) my main piece of advice would be to keep your voice down. There's nothing going to turn a European off more than a shouting American. Providing you don't shout you will be fine, we are generally friendly :-)

Come on my friend the majority of us in Europe love the USA and Americans! After all you saved our bacon in WW2. Unfortunately George W Bush hasn't helped things!

You will be made very welcome but try and fit in to the culture you are visiting, don't be to loud.

Enjoy the holiday and visit Ireland, the friendliest best country in the world!

By the way its travel "advice" not "advise"

I'm sorry, 'British England'? What other England is there?

They mostly just do not like American politics but don't act like a rude, pushy American. Try to learn at least "please" (sil vous plait) & thank you (merci) in french. Expect things to be different there and go with the flow.

Great Britain is very unforgiving with any 'visitors'.

France loves all immigrants/tourists, I suggest you go there instead. They also eat a lot of shite, so you should feel at home there.

Happy holidays. ;-)
