I can assure you that the werewolf and the vampire are not of equal powers... What give that vampire its edge is that the body that a vampire uses is possessed by a demon which happens to have the power of an angel... Because all demons are fallen angels.... Also it does not matter what a non-believer thinks for my statement will always remain true...... Now the confusion come in because they are both supernatural creatures... And they are not capable of killing each other because they are both supernatural creatures... This is a very hard situation to explain but I will give it a shot... Lets start with the vampire... You can kill a vampire, because it is already dead.... But you can destroy the body that a vampire demon uses... thus forcing the demon in that possessed that body to abandoning that already dead body... In a way what you are really doing is banishing that demon from that body... And human are un-able to kill an angel and that is what a demon is a fallen angel.... So what you are doing in a sense is exorcising that demon from that body, but the demon itself is still alive and able to possess and animate another dead body thus turning that body into a demon vampire... Now as for a werewolf is a different creature all together... Now a werewold can not re-possess a body for it is just a supernatural creature that can be killed in a sense by just destroying the body that it is in.. By using any base metal like iron, steel, gold, copper etc.... so in that sense you are poisining that body and made it un-inhabitual for that form of a supernatural beast........................... Now for those that do not believe that all a vampire is, is just a demon possessing a dead human body... Just try to do a little research and you will find that my statement holds water..........................................................................................

As creatures of the night, they would be an equal match.
Experts in mythology believe the Vampire and the Werewolf are creatures of equal power.
And they were also protrayed in Underworld, not just Van Helsing. If you really do your research, you can find both vampires and weerewolves in one story.

I have a few books on both vampire and werewolf mythology, and have watched some documentaries, and I have never heard this except in Van Helsing.
