I reckon it means we are always attracted to what seems new and attractive, outside the familiar, such as a new love; but whether such things prove truly worth pursuing depends on who or what it brings us to. Personally I reckon it's always worth investigating, but one must calculate the potential costs and decide whether they are worth risking for the potential benefits.
