Typical. I get wacked out "Socialism is the only way" liberals and right-wingers( an army person, what a surprise!) who detest any thing that's not American and Capitalist. Does anybody actually know how to respond without shoving their politics down my throat?

Actually, Scandanavia, the "Model of Socialism" is having problems in that many people do not work becasue they make just as much being on welfare. Taxes are at approximately 50%.
However, the Scandanavian countries have very large rural areas; places where there is dense population; where a lot of the Western nations have overpopulation and illegal immigration problems. Less people, less problems.

That's just silly, Tina. If socialism was so good at running an economy, East Germany would have absorbed West Germany and the Swedes wouldn't be looking to un-socialize more parts of their economy now.
I rather suspect that their apparent success is due to the people and their values, not the government.
Btw, something I noticed ... the people from cold weather countries tend to be a bit harder working than the people from warm weather countries. It might make a big difference if, (in the old days), you could only get in one crop a year and had to invest a lot of time and effort in building a warm house, as opposed to getting three crops a year and living without any walls because the worst weather you see is warm rain.
Think about it.
{Russia does seem to be an exception with her heavy alcohol problem -- and we have to remember that the Tsars and their people did conquer all their neighbors and push the Turks back hundreds of miles over hundreds of years.}

You ask are they "Socialist"? specific. then you definitely morph your question into are Socialist international places the happiest in the international. not unavoidably. Scandinavian international places are smaller than a lot of our cities in inhabitants, they're additionally homogeneous in national outlook. I quite have been to Norway and Denmark. What works there works because of the fact it extremely is not the US. Social provider cheats are frowned upon, became in via their friends. look at each and all the questions right here that come from the viewpoint of: "What am i able to flee with", in different words how am i able to cheat the gadget?. they are not international places finished of "some thing for not something" varieties. and that they are in lockstep that it extremely is a voluntary gadget. As for "chuffed", ask former Soviet Union", or Maoist chinese language, Vietnamese, Khmer Rouge Cambodians, Czechs, Ukrainians, North Koreans how they like their "workers paradises"
