The Yankees used to be a team in Baltimore. They moved to New York in 1903, then the Highlanders later becoming the Yankees so the year is 1901 but I say 1903 cause they werent in New York yet. They mets were established in 1962.

yankees joined in 1903 (but the team they started out as, the baltimore orioles, joined in 1901 then they converted to the highlands (which became the yankees) in 1903)
