Filmmaker Michael Moore told Jay Leno on Thursday that the Bush administration has served him with a subpoena for going to Cuba to film parts of his newest movie, "Sicko."

In May, the U.S. Treasury Department informed Moore it was investigating his trip to the communist state as a potential violation of Washington's long-standing embargo restricting U.S. citizens' travel to the communist nation.

I hope so. He is a terrorist loving, American hating communist pig.

I hope not, because it will make him a martyr, even though he deserves to go to jail.

But it would be nice to take the profits from the film as proceeds of crime, and it would be fun for his film production enterprise to be held to be subject to a RICO application and forfeited, including the copyrights, on the basis that he breached the embargo on multiple occasions, with all those people on the barge.

This would turn into a first amendment case, and I hope Moore wins. But at a practical level, it would ensure that his money and efforts were directed to something that is in the public interest - establishing an important first amendment principle, instead of telling lies.

I hated his film Sicko. All he did was compare healthcare systems. He did not cover the main question, "is this possible?". United States spent more in their revenue on health care than most countries.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_care

Look at the chart below at the column where it says "% of government revenue spent on health", "Healthcare costs as a percent of GDP", and "Per capita expenditure on health (USD)". You will notice that Us is highest than any one on the three categories on the chart. This is all because many Americans eat more and exercise less. 40% die of a heart attack because of that and plus the large demographic of the baby boom. 250,000,000 Americans (20% obese) and universal healthcare? Would that be even possible? If we have universal healthcare these percentages can get into the 40%s. Then what will happen to our schools, military, and natural disasters? They will shrink because of universal healthcare.

Another myth is that "US has the only healthcare in the western world". Haiti, Grenada and its islands, Mexico, and most central American countries are without healthcare.

Micheal Moor is a person who only cares about the piggy bank. If he wants to change health care so much then he could raise his box office donation higher than 11%. I hope to see him in jail.

I sure hope the biggest moron in the U.S end up in jail; and by the way, Moore's movie is a distraction from the real problem.
The type of medicine we are practicing in the U.S is antiquated, often dangerous, and based on the wrong premises and outdated approaches.
Instead, it must be founded on the laws of biology that help us address the true causes of disease, not just find better drugs or procedures to deal with them once they occur. Getting more people access to the wrong treatments does not help us in the long term to create a sustainable model of health for
society.

A subpoena is not an arrest. They just want to know what he knows.
What a suck-up Jay Leno is he gave Michelle Moore 3 Segments on his show.

Once again, Moore is completely full of sh*t. He's not being investigated at all. This is simply a ploy to generate some interest in his "documentary" which has clearly bombed. I'm sure it'll do much better overseas, but here in the States, he'd better start looking forward toward beefing up DVD sales.
BTW - Prison? This man is ALREADY in his own personal prison of trans-fats, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, obesity, chaffing butt cheeks and God only knows what other health deficiencies.

Too bad that is the worse of what can be done to him.

I'm sure he'll enjoy all the attention he receives on the inside. It'll be like midnight in the jacuzzi for him.

Let's me think about that for a second...

The government has been wanting to suppress ANYTHING made by Michael Moore for awhile now--to keep the truth from being exposed, and now he goes to Guantanamo Bay to ask the military there to allow 4 workers involved in the 9-11 cleanup entry so they can obtain the same level of healthcare granted to the prisoners there?

And didn't he travel there by BOAT?

So which part of the Carribean is connected to Cuba ITSELF?

are you kidding me. Micheal Moore could go to jail for producing a film depicting the huge inadequacies of your health system, and you think he should go to jail. Meanwhile George" Condi's booty call" Bush, Dick " I haven't shot a lawyer I like"Cheney, Alberto" you mean the truth means telling the truth" Gonzales, and Karl" laws don't apply to me " Rove get a pass in your mind. That may place you in the category of the stupidest person on the face of the planet. But as an outsider, viewing most of the questions here, you guys get your marching orders from a drug addled gas bag, a bulimic she-male, and a racist idiot. Too bad because this forum could be a good thing if the right wing moron's didn't ask inane questions.
