transmission worked when i pulled it. it has something to do with the linkage.but what?

Adjust your cable/linkage. At the transmission, where the linkage connects should be room for adjustment or if it is floor shift it may be by shifter. Check the actuator arm on the trans. is the same on both models.

1. Place shifter in PARK

2. Remove linkage from trans

3. Adjust linkage so shaft/pin slides easily into trans.

4. Click shifter through gear selection. Trans. detents should coincide with selector on shifter.

First make sure the transmission linkage is locking into all of the gears.If the transmission is working in all gears including park, you most likely have a bad clutch pack,bad valve body, or bad servo.

Those transmissions are the same, sounds like a bad trans

make sure the linkage is adjusted properly and if it is you have got a bad transmission.
