i cant think of one since the original edward woodward WICKER MAN, and that was pitched as a horror film.

do you think there are enough genuinely magical people out there to tempt some of the more experimental studios to risk putting out a genuinely magical film.

i guess if they could churn out biker films in the 60s to capture a certain market...the modern day ones could risk a million or two on a pagan/magical film.

thing is....would it be better made in the UK or the USA?

of the few pagan/witchy video clips ever made, i enjoyed useful magic the terrific, even although the entire resurrecting the ineffective subject became in basic terms a *tad* unrealistic, the conventional message and matters interior the action picture have been very pagan appropriate. after that, the craft became ok, in spite of the undeniable fact that it became too desirous approximately darkish magic and became additionally very unrealistic. harry potter is exciting, yet back no longer useful in any respect. i assume the certainty of magick isn't interesting adequate for hollywood. i could somewhat opt to verify a action picture approximately actual paganism and magick- that could desire to be outstanding! yet i do no longer see it occurring every time quickly :( if it did, the united kingdom could probable make a extra valuable one. feels like they're extra open to that variety of subject.

What about 'Practical Magic', based on the book by Alice Hoffman, and starring Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, Aidan Quinn and Goran Visjnic? Lovely film. Just goes to show how a good story can be turned into a great film when it's handled by intelligent people.

Excellent question - I have often thought that some of the more magical books I read would make brilliant films.
They've gone a little way doing things like Charmed, Buffy & The Dresden Files series on TV.
Be nice to see better films made of them - especially the last as it is more up to date! I would also like things like the Simon R. Green novels of the Nightside made into films - they would REALLY lend themselves to that medium!

The only film that comes to mind that just came out is Pan's Labyrinth. The fantasy world in the movie is very pagan and magical.
