I don't blame you.. why would you want to be painted with the same brush as that painting the u.s. right now.

Take heart.. Bush will be eliminated next election and then maybe the U.S. can gain some of it's credibility back.

The UK is not only dependent on the US. See, in this day in age, we are all inter-dependent on each other. No one country could survive on it's own. Even the poorest countries in the world depend on other countries. It's a fact of life. I mean, really, think about it. One individual cannot feasibly come up with every single thing they might need to survive. Even back in the dark ages, people were dependent on each other for things. We have just reached a point in our society where it has gone beyond your local community doing every single thing anyone in the community might need.
I won't say whether this is completely a good thing or a bad thing because everything has it's ups and downs, but it's how it is.

It's all mutual intertwined economies and defense.

Even the poor nations link with somebody for trade benefits and defense. I guess you could be really poor and have such a rotten land that no one wanted it but you. Except then some realestate dude would try to sell it out from under you.

I don't have any particular quarrel with the British, although I do wonder why they insist on blaming the United States for their own entry into the war in Iraq.

You have your own sovereign government, and it was your own Prime Minister that committed your troops into Iraq. I think anyone can see by this point that no one twisted Blair's arm on this issue. Hardly a position from which to lord morality over anyone.

Have you remembered anything from World War II and the Cold War era? Have you forgotten everything the US did to protect the West from tyranny and communism in the 1940s-80s? If so, then our veterans have truly died in vain. v_v
