a family member that you love them dearly, but they are so loud it's embarrassing to go out in public with them.

Do you get annoyed at people who speak so high that anyone in, say a restaurant can hear them? or is it just me?

Oh dear...I feel your pain...and embarrassment. ;-)
My father was born premature at a time when premies were not expected to live...well, obviously he did live, but he is almost entirely deaf. He has always worn two hearing aids, but he still cannot hear a lot and most of the time he has no concept of the volume of his voice...which led to many, many, MANY, many incidents like you describe. ;-)
Anyway, yeah...it was annoying at times...especially when Dad would be talking about things that you preferred NOT be talked about in front of strangers! But I adore my dad, so...what can I do??
I guess, the best you can do is just let them know that they sometimes get a little loud, then when they are actually doing it, maybe give them a little clue (you know...a discreet "shhhh" with a smile).
If that doesn't work...tell yourself that you love this person and want to enjoy the time you are spending with them and try not to worry about what others may think. ;-)

Or suggest that they look into hearing aids...

As this poor person cannot defend himself .....yes, I am assuming that it is HE who must be obeyed , then I will leap to his defence!

It is a male thing girls ! Get over it ! You need to make a choice here , do you want a man or a mouse !

If the latter , bad luck! You chose us so process it & move on !Girls can be just as noisy ...the only difference being the subject matter usually is nothing like as important & as such the risk to national security not as great !

edit...A she huh ? That explains it ! She's boooooring the whole restaurant to death ! lol

Ha ha!! Sounds like you're talking about my family. Most of them are so loud and really embarrassing to be around. Plus, they fight and start yelling at each other over the most ridiculous details, and more often, about nothing at all.
But, end of the day, they're still my family. They're wonderful. We love each other and watch over one another. They will still be here for you when no one else sticks around.

Well, my X used to talk loudly when talking on the phone, and i would always tell him, please low your tone!!, but in the end i got used to it...

also my friend, she is a female too, when she talks, she talks with all she has of voice, and i would also keep telling her, why are you shouting?? and she would go , OHH sorrry, after 5 minutes its the same!!

Im not embarrased, because i really dont care what people think or hear or anything, as long as ME , I am not annoyed.

Nah I don't care, I love the "loud relative" in my family...like you said everyone can't stand him cuz he's so loud and makes obnoxious (jerdi) remarks...but I love him and I make it a point to sit with him and be as obnoxious as I can myself...lol...who cares what other people think as long as we're having fun

But in fact he still talk very loudly :))))))))))

haha Webby i have the same delima...but my dad is the loud and embarrasing one! his whole family is like that, its like at a point of their lives they were alll deaf and had to speak loud just to hear each other...
sadly I cant go tell my dad "yo please dad calm down you are embarrasin me"

But the best thing to do is just tell the person to quiet down, you can do it in a joking way as to not hurt their feelings

hahahahahahah Webby........
Do you know my husband???
loooooooooool
I dont care so much about that, bcoz i got used to it, but I'll tell you an anecdote.
My husband has 3 more brothers......and all have loud voices. Once we were celebrating my mother in law's birthday and they were all talking at same time........but about any simple subject.....they were not discussing at all.
Some pple that didnt know them, asked to a relative "why that persons were fighting and discussing in a party"?
For his surprise.....seconds after he asked that........my husband and his brothers laughed aloud also..........so he realized that wasnt a fight. ..LLLOOOLLL.
I have spent more than half of my life telling them......dont shout!!!......are you deaf????
When I say that....they all talk in a low voice.........FOR 5 MINUTES !!!!!!!!!!!!! After that...they forget and start again..
he he he.....What can I do????
