I see you got quite a few answers here. I would pick 100 years but now a days anything 20 years old is called an antique. I collect items that were go back as far as 1200 BC. It is forms of money but not quite coins. Then I also collect coins from around 500 BC to 1945. None of these are called antiques by the people that collect them. I also have never heard of medals or tokens call antiques by their collectors or auction houses. Old masters paintings are also not called antiques. The term has kind of lost it's originally meaning mostly due to greed, these day everything is an antique. The term has been misused for years.

One guideline states true antiques must be at least 100 years old. This comes from a 1930 U.S. tariff act that defined antiques as works of art and ornamental objects produced before 1830. Why that particular year? That was when machine production became common. Objects made before 1830 were handcrafted.
Today, some mass-produced items are valued as antiques. An object's material and design can mean as much as the manufacturing method or date. While purists consider anything less than a century old to be merely a collectible, some collectibles are just as valuable as antiques. For example, many original Tiffany lamps, while not technically antiques, are still very valuable. And items like movie and sports memorabilia are valuable because of their associations and rarity, rather than their age

I'mm not too sure on this one but I'm thinking it;s about 40 years old. There's a program on t.v called antique roadshow( i'm sure if you wanted to search it just type in the keyword and you should see it.). It''s really a cool show. You'll see all types of gifferent pieces and they experts tell you just what it's worth. You'd truly be amazed what you'll see and what people can get for their stuff!!! Check it out.
