it went to the neon boneyard as do most of the old signs from the strip and other areas of vegas. the neon boneyard is a sort of museum on las vegas blvd. just north of fremont st. fremont st. itself also has some of the old vegas signs from the 60's. you'll see the old waving cowboy and a few others.
the link below is to the neon museum. many of the old signs, as i said, are easy to see by walking down fremont street. many others, however, are located in a dirt lot just off las vegas blvd. you can see them but by appt. only.

Treasure Island and the Mirage was not sold willingly to MGM but Kirk Kacorian forced the sale of them along with the Bellagio to MGM.

When the offer was made by MGM, Kirk and his cronies filed a suit that forced Steve Wynn to sell his shares in his own company.

Steve did get $395 million this all happened in 2000-2001.

Treasure Island went through some remodeling in 2003-04 and change the Pirate show to the Sirens at T.I.

This was just to keep a fresh look to the aging hotel. By all means Sirens is not a toned down show.

Check it out on their website or even better in person.

As far as the sign try vintage Vegas search on the web there is a museum that collects all the old signs in Vegas.

Thanks Glenn

Treasure Island and the Mirage next door were sold by Steve Wynn to MGM. That company is now called MGM-Mirage. They decided to downgrade the pirate motif and rename the hotel the "T.I." Hence, the new sign.
