Beating around the bush comes from the old days when hunters would have someone beat the bushes to scare out game for the table to feed their family. They didn't know what, if anything, would come out of the bush. It is used today to mean you are beating around the bush (question) and waiting for an answer to come out. Like you don't know the answer or don't want to answer.

I think you may mean 'Stop beating around the bush'. A remark pointed at someone who keeps rambling and talking and wandering off subject to the point of driving their listeners crazy, rather than getting straight to the heart of the matter.
