I took a bunch of Cd's from AOL and other old unwanted or scratched ones and stuck them to the ceiling in my kids bedroom. Started with one in the center and just went in a spiral, round and round. looked pretty cool, shiny and colorful. I used a staple gun in lieu of hot glue and just overlapped them slightly to conceal the staple damage. It was easy to remove when the time came to make a change.

You can make a spindle for spinning out of a CD, a dowel & a hook. Instructions at http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/na_knitting/article/0,2025,DIY_14141_3447419,00.html
Lots of people are getting into spinning and would like an inexpensive spindle to try it out without a large dollar investment.

My sons plays with old CDs. Many uses....cool set of new coasters, a neat shiny mobile, give them to a school to use in various art projects.

If you donate them, some of the proceeds go towards animal homes, charities, and numerous other things. I'm not sure that you can make any money out of them. You could make some shiny decorations, coasters, and do some microwave experiments, but that's about it.

They make very nice cards. Stick one on the front of a card and decorate with other bits.
You could also make a mobile with them - stick 2 back to back and hang several of these up.
Coasters
Anything else creative you can think of!

Suncatchers... CD's reflect pretty lights when hit by the sun.. you can hang them from the porch, in the window,,, in a tree.. you can also decorate them on one side for a prettier appearence... in addition you can hang three from one string to make them longer..
