go get yourself professionally sized at Nordstroms, JCPenney or Sears (not victoria secret, I've heard a lot of negative feedback from those who go there to get sized, and I even got sized totally wrong).
Most likely you are a B cup or small C.
Maybe 34B/C?

I think it's on the small end of average. Bravissimo found that, though the most frequently purchased size is a 36C, the actual average size should be a closer to a 34DD/E. (A 36B is equivalent in cup volume to a 34C, so that would be two to three cup sizes smaller than average, but certainly not tiny!) Honestly, from what I've seen, if a woman is fitted correctly, a DD is closer to average size for any band. This is my reasoning, and feel free to disagree: If a woman is thin, she might wear a 28DD, but it'll look proportionate on her because a 28DD is the same cup volume as smaller-than-average size (28DD=30D=32C=34B). Similarly, a woman who is overweight might wear a 38DD, about two cup sizes larger than average (38DD=36E=34F) - though easily recognizable as much, much bigger than a 28DD or 32DD, it'll look proportionate to her overall larger size. It might be worth it for your wife to get fitted, too; she might be surprised at the results. I recommend Bravissimo (though they do specialize in larger cup sizes, to my knowledge they'll fit any woman for free, and it wouldn't be unusual for a woman to walk into the shop as a 36B and leave as a properly fitted 32DD, for example). I've also heard that Rigby & Peller is good. More importantly, though, how much does it really matter how big one's breasts are compared to other women? Some men and women like bigger breasts, some like smaller, some don't care - it's a matter of personal taste, and breasts can look flattering and attractive no matter the bra size they wear.

This page
http://www.epinions.com/sprt-All-Bras-Mossimo-Price-35_to_100
says
32A to 34B · 36D to 38C · 38D to 40B
Which implies that a medium is a 36D to 38C
