Anything can happen in the NFC.
Remember, teams have been making the playoffs the last few years with 8-8 records.
Detroit has just a good a shot as any other team.
If they can play team ball, it's wide open.

The Lions offense has the ability to win a lot of games this season(on paper anyways). The question they face, can their defense play just as well?? Uh, no. The Lions will have to play a very strong Bears team(twice), and an up and coming Packers team(twice) this season. They also have road games in Philly, San Diego, and Arizona-- all potential losses. They also play host to Denver, Dallas, and Kansas City. All very good running teams(if LJ comes back to KC) and they could control the clock and take the Lions offense out of the game.
Sorry Jon Kitna, I don't see 10 wins for your team this season. Try a more realistic goal like 3 or 4 more wins compared to last year.

As much as Jon Kitna thinks so, I would say no. I don't think Kitna is good enough to take what was a shabby offense last year and get it to a level needed to win any games. The division may not be that strong, with Minnesota playing an untested rookie at QB, and Green Bay playing over the hill Brett Favre, but that still does not account for the fact the Lions cannot mtach up well with the rest of their schedule.

Jesus Christ why does everyone think the Lions will win 10 games? Just because a Backup QB (yes Kitna is a Backup QB for his whole season but the Lions are so damn depserate they can't find anyone else) said that he THINKS they can win ten games, all of a sudden everyone thinks the Lions are contenders. Their defense is trash, Kitna throws way too many picks (22, one short of leading the league) and their offensive line is garbage that gave up 63 sacks last year. Although 3-13 is a hard season to do worse (unless theyve taken notes from the Raiders) they wont win many more even though they play in the NFC.

There offense is in the top 5 best id say with new aquisons. their defenso is horrible they lost like a few starters from their horrible deffese but they didnt replace them with any one better. plus they have a tough schedulae They vs SD, KC,Denver, Philedelphia, Dallas, Bears 2xs. so al those games are going to be lost becaues of their defense not lettoing their hi offense keep up with other teams. I say they go 7-9 maybe 8 -8. Also the guy who said Kitna is a back up must be high. Kitnat threw for like 4,000 yards .....

If they are able to use half the talent they have, then they will go 7-9. If they are unable to utilize any of their talent, as always..then they will have one of the first 4 draft picks next year.
I would say that Martz is able to will them into winning 8 games, but I do not see any more than that. And I am being mighty generous at 8-8.
10? no way buddy.

No, but I think they'll win over 6 games. They had a great offense last year, but their defense wasn't that good. With Mike Martz running the offense I see Calvin Johnson lighting it up this year.

I think they will be better than last year, but no where near 10 wins, 8 would be a great season.

No, The lions are the worst team in the NFC north. They will still need another couple of years before they will become a factor.
