I could do more with a block of wood that was maybe a foot square than I could a two by four. I could use the block for a chair, a plant stand, set a speaker on it. All I could do with a 2x4 is lean it up in the corner and hope it doesn't fall on some guy's head.

About 10 years ago I saw an interview with Dave Grohl. He said he was walking around, and he met a guy who liked to nail his dick to pieces of wood. They thought about getting him to do it onstage.
Probably not a 2x4 though. Anyway, that came to mind. I don't know why. Weird, eh?

You could chisel out a really cool plaque for yourself, sculpt a cool landscape or something, make a chess board, or create a nice sword.
