I love my Quad 6600 ... what I will say is that I've never even come close to maxing out the processors and a dual core 6600 would have met even my very substantial needs (I run multiple VMs for development). Spend the difference on a better video card and faster RAM ... if you do this and use Vista and I bet you hit 5.9 (the max score possible) across the board on the Vista Experience rating.

first con,,,, always check out the after sales service of any computer box mover, go to their website get the phone number. phone the support help line if it takes ages to get a support geek drop the idea of get their system.. go to the user groups website and read what complaints there are.
do a websearch on
consumer+complaints+hp
consumer+complaints+dell
consumer+complaints+compaq
best advice is buy a computer from a local small shop near you, give them the speck you want, and they will build it for you,
Reason
should things go wrong with it you have not far to take it back,, local small computer shop need to give a good service to stay in business,
buying a computer from a big supper store, should anything go wrong with it after 30 days, you send it back to the manufactures, sending a computer back to a manufactures can and dose take weeks to get it back... and cost you money
using a local shop you should have it back in days
and stay away from Vista,,,, that's begging for problems... check out Ubuntu Linux it is free with all the software you will ever need... by the way HP are now installing Ubuntu linux on their system now so go to their web site and check it out also

There are no pros with an HP.
I've never known an HP to last over a year without something going tragically wrong with it.
