I have a young Godmum she is I think 27. She keeps in touch but very unregularly. She doesn't reply to any of my text messages. She hardly speaks to me when she is at my youth club. She speaks to maybe quite a bit at a evening church service but I can't cope with having her as a Godmum if we dont see each other quite regularly. I really want to see more of her but dont know how to ask her to see her more and catch up with each other. Any suggestions?

Just ask her straight out if you 2 can spend more time together.
It might not have anything to do with you, it might just be that she doesn't have alot of free time.
Ask her to go shopping or out for lunch some time.
I think she will be honored that you want to spend more time with her :D

I think the clue would be in your first sentence.

Athough YOU may not think it - 27ish is very young to be a Godmother.

Even if she did have the relationship explained to her when she was asked to undertake this VERY IMPORTANT role - perhaps she does not really understand what it means.

Do you have other Godparents? Can you get in touch with them?

All I would suggest to you is that you give time, time.

She is young and she may have a lot of stuffgoing on in her life at the moment - and if she is confused herself about HER life - perhaps she thinks that avoiding you is a good way of not confusing you.

But hang on in there - if she is going through things in her life - when she sorts them out - she will the source of information and comfort to you when you may be going through similar stuff as you get older.

Don't write her off - imagine that she is going through a rough patch - how much worse would it make her feel if you were to tell her that you were firing her as your Godmother!!

Try to be patient and I am sure you will find in each other a great source of friendship that is part of the unique relationship between Godparent and Godchild.

And if all else fails - I will be your Yahoo Godmother!
God luck - be happy!

Maybe she does not know how to relate to someone your age. Does she have children? Some single people at that age feel uncomfortable and cannot relate well to some age groups???? Just a thought.
