Heard the news this morning on the TV. So sad. Loved him in Eastenders, that part was made for him! My favourite clip was the one where he was married to Peggy but was carrying on with Pat, and turned up at her back door with a revolving bow tie! Classic!!

Long before Eastenders, he did standup on the Northern club circuit. He's now doing a double act with Bernard Manning.

top comedian and actor i will never forget his stand up and when he stood there in pat butchers back door with nothing but a spinning bow tie and a grin only he could have pulled that off

Shocking news. I always thought he would get the chance to make another appearance on Easties and really shake things up again. He was pure comedy genius.
