Newt himself may declare a run for the GOP nomination, so you've got to wonder if he's really picking the lineup he *thinks* will win or the lineup he most wants to face.

I don't often agree with Newt but that's kinda the way I see it. Edwards won't take the VP nomination again. If Clinton gets the nomination I think the VP nominee will be Obama or Richardson.

If there is a Clinton-Obama ticket, I hope that voters are savvy enough to realize it's a duo made out of desperation.

Obama ran a "1984"-style ad against Hillary, showing her as a scary George Orwellian type future leader where everyone conforms. How will he be able to explain this away?

With Hillary, are people so blind that she is a habitual lier? She only ran for the Senate as a stepping stone to the White House. Every conservative warned voters of this, but the people of New York were too thrilled to have the wife of a former President as their representative that they almost willingly got duped.

Wouldn't it be great for the Republicans to counter that ticket with a "Gingrich-Rice" ticket? If this happens, the Republicans have a lock on the White House.

I'm pretty sure that a lot of people have come up with that farcical idea. Gingrich just needs to stop proving himself to be the Captain Obvious of the political-realm for his own sake. If anything, it would be a very interesting, frightening and unlikely combination.

I find it very doubtful that Gringich who is a political genius (even if you think he is a prick) would really think Hillary would run with Obama. Obviously, he is doing this to scare many conservatives and testing the waters for his candidacy. He wants a Clinton-Obama ticket because that will be the easiest one to beat. It favors him and he is hoping he gets a ticket like that.

There's no way Hillary is going to choose a running mate that called her "Bush Lite". She'd have to be someone else to pick any of those that oppose her now.

A Clinton-McCain ticket is more probable than Clinton-Obama.

Yes. For the Republicans.

They may be forced to pair up to shoot the dice as it were. I think Newt might be right. I don't think the Democrats will have much of a chance if they play it safe.

But the more conventional observer in me says that one or the other will pick a white male for the VP spot.

Dodd is a possibility.

No it is not, they don't get along. Hillary is the main problem if she is the main candidate. I think that would be a guaranteed win for the Republicans and Newt is thinking that as well.

That idea is a no brainer and Newt is capable of better. Actually, Hillary would be more comfortable with Edwards.
