I think some of you people should just CHILL.
Nobody's hurting you.
Stop all the cringing and show a little tolerance already.
Dude!
I mean, you know, get real.
You're freakin' me out here.

I agree that certain words/phrases do not sit right on people of certain age groups - I'm not sure what constitutes being older than you in this case - but condescending could be one word that may apply to yourself! The old saying of age only being a number is quite true, I've met some very boring and nerdish "youngsters" and yet some really entertaining, interesting and lively people "older" than myself. I suppose using the wrong words though would only be embarrassing to close relatives - other people might not think them ridiculous.

well where im from 8-) phrases and words come and go into fashion, then are re-used about twenty years later :|
and when i said one of these words "winch" at school in another county i was ridiculed, and told that their gran's say that. was mortified.
winch= snog, which is another word i deteste :|
also the word sh*g is degrading i think.nobody should use that

I think it should be the other way around. Younger people should not be allowed to say words and phrases that make no sense to people older than them.

well i cant stand this phrase from anyone but especially older people 'chill', as in chill out, or im going home to chill.
I also cringe when I hear people speaking with that australian or american intonation of making a statement with the same intonation as if they are asking a question. When older people do it, because they've picked it up from their teenagers I really cringe.

I think the word 'panties' should be off limits to anyone older than about 3, who on earth came up with that one?
